    Setting Your Intention

Recently I came across a YouTube interview by Oprah Winfrey and Jim Carrey. Back in 1997 Oprah interviewed him about setting his intentions. Every day he would visualise himself being successful, and would see those people in his industry that he respected complimenting him about his work. He would also visualise things coming to him, and commented that although he had nothing at that time, it made him feel better to tell himself that actually he did have the things he wanted, and he refused to focus on what he didn't have.

He also wrote himself an Abundance cheque for $10 million for 'acting services rendered', dated it for five years later and put it into his wallet. Just before Thanksgiving in the fifth year, he found out that he was to earn $10 million for his film Dumb and Dumber! His self belief and visualisation helped to bring him to his goal.

The key line in the interview for me was that visualisation works if you work at it, and that it won't happen if you 'just visualise it, and go eat a sandwich'! So write it, visualise it, believe it, put it out there to the universe and actually work towards doing it.

Believing it is key, as we are very good at putting out our intentions and then self sabotaging ourselves. So don't let that self doubt prevent us from achieving our goals. Don't listen to that little voice that tells you you aren't good enough. Be open to the many ways that the universe may bring about your intention, it may surprise you.

My intention today was to write this blog. A small achievement but for me something that I've been putting off for a while. I now often use the phrase 'I intend to' rather than 'I'd like to'. It's much more empowering. So today I told my husband that I intended to write my blog. I visualised myself writing in the time I have in Guildford whilst waiting for my daughter to finish her drama class and here I am typing away in the Yvonne Arnaud theatre foyer, surrounded by people waiting to go into watch a performance.

So set your intentions today, be they small intentions or huge goals. Just put it out there and see it and believe it and know you are worth it, don't lose sight of it, and let's see what happens!
